Documentation is required for any affirmative response to the questions on the Management Systems, Program Elements, and Advanced Initiatives tabs. A satisfactory response must be able to meet any or all of the following requirements. The International Standard Organization’s ISO 14001:2015, the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA regulations’ 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926, the American National Standards Institute’s Workplace Safety Standards.
A typical safety program should contain the following items.
- Hazard recognition assessment.
- Steps and or procedures to control the hazard.
- Training materials and procedures for affected employees.
- Competent person designation. (Person or Job Title responsible for implementing controls).
“Why is my score so low? And how can I raise it?”
It all depends on which factors in your profile rank low. You are able to review specific weaknesses that received lower scores. Sometimes it is as simple as a missed policy or safety manual. If it is due to higher RC or DART rates, your score is based on incident rates compared to national averages for your trade.
Within your score profile, you will see a 'Details' link that you can click on and provides some further insight into the specifics of your scoring.
One major benefit to contracting partners enrolling in the program is that it provides you with an independent assessment of your safety programs. The program will identify your safety program's strengths and weaknesses. Weaknesses associated with a lack of safety management systems or safety programs can be addressed through further development of your safety manual. Your enrollment can be updated to include new documents at any time to improve your programs and score.
